Which wool for the fluffy cardigan?
In order to knit the cardigan, you need to buy two different knitting yarns, which I will go into in more detail below. You can get the yarns directly from your Specialist dealer for Lana Grossa knitting yarns buy.
#1 Cool Merino by Lana Grossa
First you need 250 (300 – 300 – 350) g Cool Merino by Lana Grossa Get it in the color lilac (col. 32). The knitting yarn is made from 90% Merino virgin wool (Merino) and 10% polyamide.
#2 Basta by Lana Grossa
In addition, approx. 350 (400 – 400 – 450) g Basta by Lana Grossa needed in the color violet pink (color 18). This knitting yarn is made from 50% Merino virgin wool and 50% polyamide.
The following utensils and materials are also required for re-knitting:
- Knitting needles No. 4.5
- 1 short circular knitting needle size 4.5
- 3 mother-of-pearl buttons, 23 mm diameter
The buttons used here are mother-of-pearl buttons from Union Knopf in color 12, item no. 37604.
Knit a fluffy cardigan
The cardigan can be knitted in sizes 36/38 (40/42 and 44/46 – 48/50).
The information for size 40/42 is in brackets, for size 44/46 between, and for size 48/50 after the dividing lines. If there is only one specification, it applies to all sizes.
Stitch sample
17 sts and 32 rows in garter st in stripe pattern with needle size 4.5 = 10 x 10 cm.
Kraus right
K from back, K from back.
Stripe pattern: Always work 2 rows of Basta and 2 rows of Cool Merino alternately.
Double edge sts (over 2 sts)
At the beginning of the row: slip 1 st as if to purl, the thread is in front, K 1 st. End of row: Slip 1 st as if to purl, thread is in front, K 1 st.
Back part
Cast on 102 (108 – 114 – 122) sts with Cool Merino and needle size 4.5, K 2 rows and continue in garter st in a striped pattern. 29 (30 – 31 – 32) cm from the stop, mark the start of the armholes on both sides. 19 (21 – 23 – 25) cm from the beginning of the armholes for the shoulders, cast off 5 (2 – 0 – 0) x 6 sts, 1 (4 – 5 – 1) x 7 sts and 0 (0 – 1 – 5) x 8 sts on every other row, then cast off the remaining 28 sts.
Li front part
Cast on 57 (60 – 63 – 67) sts with Cool Merino and needle size 4.5, knit 2 rows and continue in garter st in a striped pattern, working the double edge sts on the left side. Work the armhole and shoulder slope on the right side as on the back piece, then put the remaining 20 sts on hold.
Right front part
Work in the opposite direction to the left front piece, but with 3 buttonholes, 12 (14 – 16 – 18) cm from the cast on, work the first 5 sts on one right side, cast off the following 2 sts and finish the row. Then cast on the sts again. Repeat 2 more times on every 30th row.
Sleeve
Cast on 44 (47 – 50 – 53) sts each with Cool Merino and needle size 4.5, knit 2 rows and continue in garter st in a striped pattern, adding 1 st in every 12th (10th – 8th – 8th) row 10 (12 – 14 – 16) x 10 (12 – 14 – 16) for the arm bevel = 64 (71 – 78 – 85) St. 42 cm from the beg, cast off all sts.
Working out
Close the shoulder seams. Close sleeve and side seams. For the collar, work according to the stripe pattern with circular knitting needle size 4.5 in garter stitch over the 20 sts on both front pieces in garter st, picking up 32 sts from the back neckline on the back piece and continuing the 2 sts of double edge sts at the front edge = 72 sts. 10 sts spaced 2 cm from the beginning of the collar inc = 82 sts. 12 cm from the beginning of the collar loosely cast off all sts after the 2nd row with Basta. Sew in the sleeves. Sew the buttons on the left front piece.
