What wool for that Gomitolo Hippie Shirt?

To knit the summery shirt, you need approx. 300 (300 – 300 – 400) g Gomitolo Hippie by Lana Grossa in the color orange/blackberry/light turquoise/pink/natural/lime (col. 3031). The knitting yarn consists of 66% cotton, 30% hemp and 4% linen and can be purchased directly from you Specialist dealer for Lana Grossa knitting yarns be purchased.

The following utensils are also required for knitting:

  • Short circular knitting needles No. 2.5 and 3
  • Long circular knitting needles No. 2.5 and 3

Knit the shirt

The shirt can be knitted in sizes 36/38 (40/42 – 44/46 and 48/50). The information for size 40/42 is in brackets, for size 44/46 between, and for size 48/50 after the dividing lines. If there is only one specification, it applies to all sizes. The shirt is knitted in one piece from top to bottom.

Stitch sample

21 sts and 32 rows in stocking st with needle size 3 = 10 times

Rib pattern

K 1 st, knit 1 alternately.

Smooth right

Always work K in the round. In rows: K back st, purl st back.

Raglan rib pattern

Repeat over 2 sts and 2 rounds. 1st round:

K 1, K 2, K 1. K the YOs on the following round and then incorporate both into the stockinette stitch pattern. 2nd round: K the 2nd st on the left before the 1st st, then K the 1st st and leave both sts on the left. Always repeat the 1st and 2nd rounds, increasing 2 sts per raglan rib on every 2nd round.

Round yoke

Cast on 116 sts with hook size 2.5, form a round, mark the beginning of the round, and work rib for 3 cm. Continue with needle number 3 in the following pattern division: *16 sts in stockinette st = right shoulder, 2 sts in raglan rib pattern, 38 sts in stockinette st = front piece, 2 sts in raglan rib pattern, repeat from * once for left shoulder and back piece. After 58 (66 – 74 – 82) rounds from the pattern division there are 348 (380 – 412 – 444) sts. The sleeves, back and front pieces are then worked separately in stockinette st, so divide the sts as follows: right sleeve 74 (82 – 90 – 98) sts = between the former raglan ribs, front piece 100 (108 – 116 – 124) sts = 2 sts each of the former raglan rib pattern and 96 (104 – 112 – 120) sts in between, purl sleeve 74 (82 – 90 – 98) sts, back 100 (108 – 116 – 124) sts.

With needle number 3, work 10 rows in stockinette st over each of the 74 (82 – 90 – 98) sts, while at the end of each row, K 1 and P 1 from the last st = 84 (92 – 100 – 108) sts. Now for the hem with needle number 2.5, continue ribbing for 3 cm in the round, then loosely bind off all sts.

Back part

For the back piece, work 10 rows in stockinette st over the 100 (108 – 116 – 124) sts, picking up 1 st from the increased sleeve stitches on each back = 110 (118 – 126 – 134) sts.

Back and front part

Immediately after the last row on the back, pick up 5 sts from the increased sleeve stitches and work over the next 100 (108 – 116 – 124) sts on the front piece, picking up 5 sts from the increased sleeve stitches. Continue in stocking st over all 220 (236 – 252 – 268) sts in the round. 43 (46 – 49 – 52) cm from the neck edge – measured on the front piece, for the hem with needle size 2.5, continue ribbing for 3 cm, then cast off all sts loosely.

Sew all threads and close any small holes at the transitions of the raglan yoke.
