Which wool for the summer shirt?
If you want to knit the summer shirt, you need approx. 3 (4 – 4 – 4 – 5) balls = approx. 300 (400 – 400 – 400 – 500) g Gomitolo Hippie by Lana Grossa in the color blue-purple/turquoise/natural/moss green/ochre/dark gray/lime green (col. 3033). The knitting yarn consists of 66% cotton, 30% hemp, 4% linen and can be purchased directly from you Specialist dealer for Lana Grossa knitting yarns be purchased.
For knitting you also need to get the following supplies:
- Knitting needles No. 2.5
- Knitting needles No. 3, 1
- Short circular knitting needles size 2.5
- 3 mother-of-pearl buttons with a diameter of 17 mm
Knit the summer shirt
The shirt can be knitted in sizes 36/38 (40/42 – 44/46 – 48/50 – 52/54). The information for size 40/42 is in brackets in the first place, for size 44/46 in second place, for size 48/50 in third place and for size 52/54 in last place. If there is only one specification, it applies to all sizes.
Stitch sample
20 sts and 36 rows lace pattern with needle number 3 = 10 x 10 cm.
Rib pattern
P 1, K 1 alternately, finish with P 1. In all rows, work the sts as they appear. If there is an even number of sts, purl 1, knit 1 alternately.
Hole pattern
Divide by 2 plus 2 edge sts. 1st row (RS): K all sts. On all back rows: Purl all sts and, if necessary, U. 3rd row: Edge st, *1 U, K 2 tog, repeat from *, end with edge st. 5th row: K all sts. 7th row: Edge st, *1 U, K 2 tog, repeat from *, end with edge st. 9th row: K all sts. 11th row: K all sts. 13th row: Edge st, *1 U, K 2 tog, repeat from *, end with edge st. 15th row: Edge st, *K 2 sts tog, 1 U, repeat from *, end with edge st. 17th row: Edge st, *1 U, K 2 tog, repeat from *, end with edge st. 19th row: K all sts. 21st row: P all sts. 23rd row: P all sts. Always repeat the 1st to 24th row.
Double edge sts (over 2 sts) at beginning of row
Slip 1 st as if to purl, yarn in front, K 1. End of row: Slip 1 st as if to purl, thread is in front, K 1.
Back part
Cast on 108 (116 – 124 – 132 – 140) sts with needle size 2.5 and work in rib pattern for 5 cm, then continue with needle size 3 in lace pattern. 31 cm from rib pattern on both sides

At the same time, 2 cm from the start of the shoulder slope, cast off the middle 28 sts for the neckline and finish both sides separately, while dec 4 x 1 st on each row to round the neckline.
Front part
Work like the back piece, but for the slit in the middle front, cast off the middle 6 sts 4 (6 – 8 – 10 – 12) cm from the beginning of the armholes and finish both sides separately. 13 cm from the beginning of the slit, cast off 1 x 5 sts for the neckline curve and then cast off 2 x 2 sts and 6 x 1 sts on every other row. At the same time, slant the shoulders 3 cm from the start of the neckline curve as with the back piece. For the button placket on the front slit, pick up 33 sts with needle size 2.5 mm on the left side when worn and work ribbing for almost 3 cm, then cast off the sts. Work the same way on the right side, but for the buttonholes, 1 cm from the beginning of the rib pattern, work 6 sts from the right side, *cast off 1 st, work 10 sts, work from * 2 times, cast off 1 st and finish the row. Then cast on the 1 st for each buttonhole again and then integrate it back into the rib pattern. Sew the lower narrow sides of the button strips to the cast-off edge, with the band with buttonholes on top. Sew the buttons on the other panel.
sleeve
Cast on 74 (82 – 90 – 98 – 106) sts each with hook no. 2.5 and work in rib pattern for 5 cm, then continue with row no. 3 in lace pattern, adding 4 x 1 st on every 4th row for the arm bevel = 82 (90 – 98 – 106 – 114) sts. Cast off all sts 8 cm from rib pattern.
Working out
Sew the shoulder, side and sleeve seams. For the collar at the neckline, pick up approx. 113 sts with needle size 2.5, starting at the transition between the button placket and the front piece and ending in the opposite direction. Work in rows between 2 double edge sts in rib pattern. 10 cm from the beginning of the collar, cast off all sts very loosely. Sew in the sleeves.
