In the last few weeks I have often emphasized and also shown in my stories that I have been using nutritional supplements for a long time. Lately I’ve been asked more and more often about which supplements I take and which ones I can recommend. So before I get started, I want to emphasize that nutritional supplements are not a replacement for a balanced diet. As the name suggests, dietary supplements should only be taken as a supplement.
Do I have to take supplements/food supplements?
Must? No! I still recommend it to you. There are certain nutritional supplements that I don’t want to do without and that I take every day because they support me and my health as well as my beauty. You may also know that I have been eating 90% vegan for over a year. Accordingly, I of course have to make sure that I consume all the important nutrients. But there are also nutritional supplements that I only take during certain phases, like a kind of cure, and not every day, but more on that later.
Nutrient deficiencies in a vegan diet?
With a balanced diet it is actually possible to be supplied with all nutrients. Nevertheless, there are a few things to keep in mind, as a plant-based diet avoids animal products and meat. For this reason, a long-term deficiency of certain nutrients, especially vitamin B12, can occur. Because there is no plant-based food that can replace vitamin B12.
My daily supplements/food supplements
As I wrote above, I take certain supplements every day. On the one hand, they support my health and on the other hand, they support my beauty from the inside, so to speak. If we supply our body with all the important nutrients, it can work properly. But please remember that taking nutritional supplements is very individual and of course you shouldn’t just blindly take everything. By the way, I only use natural nutritional supplements because the body can handle and utilize them better because they are not foreign to the body.
My daily supplements include:
Omega 3
A must in my eyes! No matter what age. Omega 3 is essential for our body and must therefore be obtained through food. It is important for many processes in our body. I take Omega 3 in liquid form, but you can also take it as a capsule.
By the way, omega-3 fatty acids have a positive effect on chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatism (I was diagnosed 3 years ago). The following effects have been proven in studies:
- Pain reduction
- Decrease in swelling
- Reducing morning stiffness
- More physical performance
Omega-3 fatty acids also act on the immune system to improve the underlying autoimmune disease. Here find out more about it!
Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is an important vitamin for the blood, heart, brain and nerves. Vitamin B12 is also involved in detoxification. Vitamin B12 is particularly important for the nervous system, the immune system and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. I take vitamin B12 in tablet form.
Vitamin K2
Vitamin K2 is relevant for the skeleton and bone structure, it supports bone density and bone remodeling and reduces the risk of hip fractures. I also take vitamin K2 in liquid form.
iron
Iron plays many important key functions in our organism – it is responsible for both oxygen transport and energy metabolism. Iron ensures that we remain efficient and healthy. I take iron in liquid form.
zinc
I really recommend zinc to everyone, from young to old. It is especially important for our immune system and our skin. These are the two most important points for me. I currently take zinc in the form of capsules.
sikapur silica
sikapur capsules contain biotin and trace elements and ensure strong, healthy connective tissue, beautiful, healthy skin, strong hair and strong nails. A course of 23 months is recommended, as skin, hair, nails and connective tissue need time to renew themselves.
Probiotics by AIME
Probiotics or probiotic bacteria are natural and living microorganisms, also called ‘the good bacteria’ because they help regulate the digestive system and intestinal flora. Many foods and supplements are fortified with probiotics. I’m currently taking the ‘Pure Glow’ capsules from AIME.
Supplements that I don’t take every day:
Vitamin D3
I take it especially now in winter. Our body can produce the vitamin itself with the help of the sun, but production decreases over the years and we have to spend time in the sun every day. I take vitamin D3 in liquid form.
Greens
I don’t drink my greens every day, but rather as a kind of cure and only for a certain time. But what are greens actually? Greens provide your body with lots of micronutrients. They are not a substitute for your daily intake of vegetables and fruit. Personally, I take the greens because they also provide certain nutrients for the intestines, such as spirulina and chlorella. Two microalgae that positively support your intestines.
Cacao Glow by AIME
This is a nutritional supplement powder with marine collagen, organic cocoa and maca that supports skin, hair and nails and supports well-being and sleep. It also has an anti-aging effect. Depending on my mood, I prepare a drink with oat milk once or twice a week or simply add 1-2 teaspoons to my latte.
Matcha Glow by AIME
Matcha Glow is also a dietary supplement powder with marine collagen, which improves skin moisture, texture and elasticity and also has an anti-aging effect. Here, too, I prepare a pack between 2 and 4 times a week or add some to my smoothie.
So there you have it: my nutritional supplements, which I use daily or as a treatment. I’m of course very curious to find out what supplements you take or whether you don’t even take any at all. As always, feel free to write to me on Instagram! 🙂
