You need: Rowan, quality “Handknit Cotton” (100% cotton, length 85 m/50 g), approx. 100 g in white, color 263 bleached; Knitting needles size 4-5 and a cable needle
Knitting pattern
Cable pattern: The number of stitches is divisible by 18 + 1 extra stitch. Work according to the chart. Only the front rows are drawn. On the back rows, knit the stitches as they appear. Always repeat the 1st to 12th rows.
Gauge: 18 stitches and 27 rows in cable pattern = 10 x 10 cm
For other book formats the basic pattern e.g. B. in the V pattern set = add or reduce 9 stitches, which corresponds to approximately 5 cm. End in height after the 6th or 12th row of the chart.
Instructions
Cast on 77 stitches and knit one back row of purl stitches. In the following row, divide the stitches like this: 1 edge stitch, 10 stitches in the large moss stitch, for the cable stitch 3 times the pattern set according to the knitting chart, 1 stitch according to the pattern set, 10 stitches in the large moss stitch, 1 edge stitch.
1st row: Alternately knit 1 stitch on the right and knit 1 stitch on the left. On the 2nd row, knit the stitches as they appear.
In the next row, do the same as in the 1st row, except start with the left. On the 4th row, knit the stitches again as they appear. Always repeat the 1st to 4th rows.
Edge stitches:
Knit the first stitch in each row, working from right to left into the stitch. Slip the last stitch in each row with the thread forward. Knit 22 cm high in this division; the last row should be a 6th or 12th row of the cable pattern. Cast off all stitches knitted on the right. Stretch the knitted piece, cover it with a slightly damp cloth and let it dry. Fold the moss stitch edges to the left on both sides and sew the narrow edges at the top and bottom.
