Tips for facial care in winter: How to care for your skin in the morning and evening

The cold time of the year will remain with us for a while, which is why I would like to go into more detail today about the right facial care in winter. I’m actually not a winter person, at least not here in Berlin. There is almost no snow here, just cold, wet days and mud. Nevertheless, I love long walks in the fresh air every now and then. Because what could be nicer than making yourself comfortable in the warmth of your home after a long walk? But the change from cold outside temperature to warm heated air can cause enormous problems for our skin. The change in temperature removes moisture from the skin and dries it out. That’s why the right skin care in winter is the be-all and end-all for beautiful skin!

That’s why in today’s article I’ll show you how you can intensively care for your skin in winter and of course in the transitional period and which ingredients you should pay particular attention to in your beauty products!

Moisture – The be-all and end-all for skin care in winter

Our unprotected facial skin doesn’t really have anything to smile about in winter! Just like water is essential to our lives, moisture is essential to our skin. Winter, or more precisely the cold air, is dry and dry air removes moisture from the skin, which in turn puts enormous stress on it and severely weakens its moisture reserves and protective barriers. In addition, the fine blood vessels in the subcutaneous tissue constrict in the cold air – the skin is less supplied with blood and the supply of important nutrients to the cells stops. At this point the “problem” increases because the skin loses even more moisture due to the slowed skin metabolism.

By the way, the sebaceous glands don’t like the cold either: at temperatures below eight degrees Celsius, they reduce skin oil production, causing the skin’s fatty, protective outer barrier to become thinner and more permeable. The result: the skin loses even more moisture. And last but not least, the dry heating air and the extreme temperature difference between outside and inside also take a toll on the skin.

So you see: Moisture is the be-all and end-all for beautiful and healthy skin in winter!
